Passive House is a rigorous, voluntary standard for energy efficiency in a building, reducing its ecological footrprint. It results in ultra-low energy buildings that require little energy for space heating or cooling.

The Passive House standard stands for quality, comfort and energy efficiency, resulting in houses requiring very little energy to achieve a comfortable temperature year round, making conventional heating and air conditioning systems obsolete.
Passive House
BEC provides a range of consulting services to clients seeking to achieve the Passive House Standard, be it full certification or just advice on building to the standard.

Services include PHPP assessments, u-value calcs, thermal bridging details and condensation risk analysis.

" A Passive House is a
building, for which thermal
comfort can be achieved
solely by post-heating or
post-cooling of the fresh
air mass which is required
to achieve sufficient
indoor air quality conditions"
Dr. Wolfgang Feist
Nearly Zero Enegy Buildings means a building that has a very high energy performance - "the nearly zero or very low amount of energy required should be covered by a very significant extent from renewable sources, including energy from renewable sources produced on-site or nearby"

In order to move towards the NZEB standards from the current building regulations, Government is expected to issue a revised Building Regulations - Parl L Conservation of Fuel and Energy.

The European Energy Performance of Buildings Directive Recast (EPBD) requires all new buildings to be Nearly Zero - Energy Buildings(NZEB) by 31st December 2020 and all buildings acquired by public bodies by 31st December 2018.

If you are currently going through the plaining process and require advice on how best to achieve this future requirement, please give us a call. Future proof your house TODAY.
